good looking things that live in the kitchennn

Working on a piece of art for my friend. I showed it to my
co worker one morning and the first thing she said was
'umm what? are they nipples? is that a boob?!'

Always good to get some feedback.. So I'm thinking I might change the kettle lids.. to save myself from constant nipple remarks.
And I'm still trying out some colour. I always like black and white, reliable dependent B&W.

It's always good to play with a little bit of colour though.. might come across a combo/effect that will work for it.
I'll keep on foolin' around with my nipples and see where it takes me.

so much FUN

So It's all come down to this moment. This is what I've been aiming for. The past 2 months of my life.
Consumed by trying to create the perfect image pun. The one that will make it onto the "somuchpun" website to be viewed by the masses.
Finally.
I have succeeded!!

Got it yet? See that?
A bale of haaay... seems a little sick?
May have a bit of a fever even?

HAY FEVER??

Went to the lovely Kings Park today and took some photos of the flowers and plants.
Then I came home and played around with them in Photoshop
Sunday fun times.

Oh and I had an ice cream too!

I've had a few days off work lately due to being ILL, and I'll be off for the rest of the week.
I'm only into my second day and I don't know what to do with all this TIME.
Drawing is good, been doing more of that lately so I'm happy with that.
Today I found myself sweeping up sand out the back and putting it in the bin.. yep..think that one explains itself really.

So tomorrow I can see myself starting some other ridiculous task. I'll be on my hands and knees scrubbing each tile with a toothbrush or something.
Or clean up the pantry. That's always an interesting one. Might find something growing in there that shouldn't be.
Will let you know how I go!

A rough sketch involving two of my favourite things. Houses and rocks :)
Will work into it a bit more at some point.
Then I might draw some of the little people/creature/things that inhabit the cute little houses.

I'll stop talking about what I aim to draw and actually just do it.

patterns with pots

Decided to start drawing again after a pretty long stint of doing sweet fudge all.
I'll be posting a few more random scribbles in the next few weeks. Woo hoo for motivation!

SO this here image is a pattern I made with a drawing of.. a pot. Yeeip. pretty COOL.
It will grow into something a little more exciting I swear.

Still I think for a pot, it's shape has created quite an interesting effect.
I like patterns.

One day I will have my own wrapping paper company. Just watch

You know that thing people say..."you don't know how good something is until it's gone!"... that kinda scenario. You know the one??

Well I'm feeling that more and more since moving out of home.
One thing I never appreciated enough, has definitely got to be my old backyard. My pappy's pride and joy.
Every weekend I remember him being out there slaving away on a Sunday. Moving bricks and flower pots. Meanwhile I sat inside stuck to my laptop or stuffing my face with food in front of the tv.
I'm quite certain we had a herb garden for at least a year before I even realized.

Now every time I go out to visit the folks I'm like a broken record "loving the garden paps!" "have you done something else to it?" "oooh a lemon tree! nice addition"

Sitting out on the porch on a sunny day with a beverage in hand is pure SERENITY. It sure beats the shit out of our cemented courtyard... we shall fill it with green leafy things soon enough.. maybe.. one day.

thumpR

This is the most rescent design job I've worked on.
An Album for the group thumpR.
Check their groovy beats out HERE

Pretty happy with this one. The type is all hand drawn by me myself & I, so that was fun to do. I enjoy type. I need to play with it more. Lord knows where the cover image came from. Somewhere in my mind. I like abstract art.
Something I also want to experiment with more.

I must say I've been a little lazy in the past few months so hopefully I'll kick myself in the head and get into some sort of drawing frenzy, then I can SHOW AND TELL heaps more stuff. wooo

peace out

Bali In Picture Form

A hoy hoy

So I'm back from Bali.
Yep went to Bali with the family early last week for 6 days. Never been before, and I must say my expectations weren't too high.
All I seemed to hear about is the constant heckling you get from the shop fronts and the 'pumping' party/club scene in Kuta. Both not really being the most appealing things for me personally.
BUT alas I was pretty chuffed with my time there.
I'll make a list of highlights.. I feel like I can handle LyFe better in list form.
I continuously create lists for my daily plans and ticking the list off make me feel like i've achieved major life goals.

So. Here's a list of likes/highlights and dislikes about Bali.. And I use the word dislike very lightly seeing as i really didn't bitch and moan too much throughout my time there (GO ME)

LIKE NUMBER ONE:
FOOD:
The food in Bali is amazing, both traditional and western dishes. I did not receive one meal I was disappointed in and the service is amazing.
The Balinese are so sincere and happy and nice and they giggle at your lame jokes *smiles*.
One day for lunch my sister and I were waiting for about 10 minutes when the waiter came by and apologised for the long wait, it wasn't going to be much longer.
Like.. dude.. here in Perth you can wait up to half an hour without anyone coming up an apologising for the SLOTH who's cooking the meal in the back kitchen.
So yep. Food awesome. Service epic.
And very cheap. By the end of the trip I started looking at $15 mains thinking it may break the bank seeing as a standard meal costs around 7bucks.
In conclusion. Food wins in Bali.

LIKE NUMBER TWO
SCENERY:
The ride in from the airport in the morning was awesome. Not having any idea what Bali would look like I was pretty amazed/transfixed on it all. Little villages with rice farming in between all sorts of stores and what barely looked like houses.
There's something about a shanty town that amazes me. Its sad to think people live in little tin sheds or whatever they can create with the junk around them.. but im in awe of it?
I don't know why. There's something 'beautiful' about it to me.. and i don't know whether I should be going to hell for thinking such a thing.... I'll have to delve deeper into this complex another time.

The ride up to Ubud was great as well. During a 2 hour drive I was never bored, there was always something that caught my eye. Then you get to the waterfalls and woooow so much greeen.
So yes. I thoroughly enjoyed Bali's scenic 'vibe'.

LIKE NUMERO TRIO
POOL+COCKTAILS:
The one thing I kept saying before we took off: 'All I need is the pool/cocktail experience. That's ALL I NEED!'
And my dreams came true. It was happy hour from 4-7pm in our hotel pool area. So buy one get one free was the go. Twas great, chillin' in the pool then having a little drinky poo.
Took advantage of this little novelty a few times and yeah.. it was just fun?!

LIKE NUMBER FOUR
THE BALINESE PEEPS:
They're so lovely and kind. Even though the roads seem like chaos, its predetermined chaos...or something a long those lines...
They use their horns to communicate "oh hey you can pass" or "hey umm can i just squeeze through? oh awesome mate thanks".
Not to communicate "oi your a fuck head get off the road". It's great!

I always hate coming back from a place where the people are calm cool and collect. Perth needs to take a few lessons from our Bali neighbours!
We met a few locals too. One being our driver Robbie. He took us to and from the airport and also drove us all into Ubud. Was good to have someone you saw throughout the trip who you could trust and feel safe around.
Another local was Rudy! He owns one of the bars that are set up along the beach. It's called 'rudys bar'
He was great too, we were down there pretty much every arvo so he got to know us well.
He knew our parents from the previous years they'd been, he was pretty chuffed to meet the 'offspring'.

Me and my sister would  just be walking along the street, you'd hear your name being called out and sure enough it was Rudy at the beach just wanting to say hello. It was cute that he took time to remember us.
"where's my twinnies tonight?" He'd say to mum if we were running late.
I'm sure if we stayed longer we'd have found many a friendly local. But those two are the ones that stand out the most.

DISLIKE NUMBER ONE:

HECKLING:
Yeah so it did annoy me, sometimes it's okay because you say no once and they understand.
BUT THEN..Sometimes, especially on the beach when you're just trying to enjoy a beer, they'd hound you a littttle too much. You don't want to get nasty, but sheeeeit. You had to get pretty stern with some of them. Especially the little cheeky children.
I'm personally not a massive people person when it comes to shopping and all those things anyway. I don't mind the random 'how are you', but when you're hounded constantly all day *implodes*.
It did come to a point where I wouldn't go out to certain areas because I just couldn't be shagged with it all.
They soon remember you though. So maybe after two days of yelling at us to buy something they soon realise we weren't going to say yes ever and they sort of back off after that. GOOD.

DISLIKE NUMBER TWO

ROWDY PERTH TOURISTS:
It annoys me when you're in this pretty cool great place where the locals respect the tourists and treat them so well. Then you get the few trashy drunk punk kids/adults who ruin the 'vibe maaan'.

One dickhead was hooning around on a scooter and thought he'd take a short cut through the beach after slurring abuse to the crowd. He got bogged in the sand though. Karma.
Then you had the groups of teens coming back from their party fun times at Kuta at 3am in the morning and deciding to make loud annoying noises by the swimming pool while everyone else in the resort is trying to bloody sleep.

So I think that sums up my liking and disliking of the holiday. Bit of a rant.. hope that wasn't too boring to read.
Clearly the good out ways the bad in this trip. HOORAH.

I had fun

Opening exhibition night complete.
Massive success, we got a pretty big turn out and yeah, many a piece of art was sold.
It was all a blur really. Seemed to be over in a heart beat. But the night was young and celebratory drink followed into the morning.
3 of my 4 art works sold. Hell yeah. Pretty stoked with that... yeeiiss.
Here's what I hung.

Hoping to pop up some photos of the night soon!
But for now I need to curl up and deal with the many beverages that entered my body last night :)

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

Well it's finally crept up. An epic Illustration Exhibition involving some old study buds and myself will be showing this Saturday through till Friday.

We'll be showing off all our awesome skillz and hopefully make some dosh as well.
Should be good. Come down!
It'll be FUN.
DO IT!
COME ON!
YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!

Today was a productive day. I cleaned the whole house.
I cant just stop at one room. I get the bug and then it's on like Donkey Kong. Cleaning until I cannot clean no more.

I also finished off my last piece for the exhibition, so now all four pieces are framed and looking snazzy as.

Also got our house some new chairs for the dining room. Had a little issue where all our chairs were slowly breaking one by one at the misfortune of our guests arses. So yeah! These ones are sturdy and shall not cause any issues.
So that's all good. I'm sure you can all sleep at night now knowing my chairs will no longer harm booties.

Nachos for dinner. Win

I would love. To design wrapping paper.
You'd buy my wrapping paper wouldn't you?
Moths are pretty aren't they?
I hate moths.Yet enjoy a good butterfly. So racist really. I'd let a pretty colourful insect sit on me, but if its a dirty glum moth get it off!

I think its the way they fly as well. Butterflies are elegant and light. Moths don't know where they're going. Smacking into things. Searching for the moon their whole lives. Dumb.
They freak me out

Many a times have I stayed clear of my room until the most manly person I could find would come along and rid my room from the spawns of Satan.
Maybe drawing them with pretty colours will help me overcome my petty girly fear.

The Apprentice

Helped my cousin out for his mix tape launch by doing the cover art/design for him
He had the visual idea to have octopus tentacles holding different shizzle.
I just took that and rolled with it.
Had a pretty short time frame to work with so i'm pretty happy with the outcome.
Kind of enjoyed only having a week to do it. Pressure makes things happen!

Thursday, May 19, 2011

Its been two days since my first yoga session
Had some freak cold throat death thing yesterday. So was too weak and ill to bother with it.

Logo Design

So I designed a logo for one of my friends!
He's into the filming and editing side of thangs and puts his stuff under the name of Pistol Shrimp!

It's the first real logo I've done besides cruddy TAFE assignment ones. I'm pretty happy with it. I created all the type myself too. I think I'd like to revisit the type and tweak dat sheit. Make it 'real taight'
I seem to be getting a little bit of design work coming my way actually. It's pretty exciting!
keeping me motivated :)

and here's a link to the video that features my logo deBUT

a few drawings

It's a working progress. I dont know why i'm suddenly feeling the need to draw gloopy characters with abnormal eye placements. DEAL with it.

I decided to take the paper waste home from work, and scan it :)
